There is lots to do in half term in the Hexham area! Bank Holiday Monday sees the fantastic County Show return to Bywell. They have over 350 stands, live bands, hundreds of animals on show and lots lots more. It is open 9am – 6pm and details can be found on their website at www.northcountyshow.co.uk
Along Hadrian’s Wall there will be various activities during half term and running through the summer. Chesters Roman Fort will be having their ‘How to be a Roman Soldier’ day where children can dress up and learn all about the life of a Roman Soldier. At Vindolanda you can see a potter at work, you can watch him recreate Roman pottery found here at the live demonstrations.
The Mansio, which has been created to celebrate new works from poets and artists has been created as a modern day contemporary ‘place of rest’ where you can experience the art, literature and video whilst having a cup of tea in the ‘touring tea-house’. It will be touring along the wall at various sites and on the 28th may -2nd June it will be at Senhouse Roman Museum in Maryport Cumbria. It will be back in Northumberland on 25th July at Walltown.
